PORCELAIN VENEERS

A veneer is a thin layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth or to protect a damage to a tooth’s surface. There are two main types of material used to fabricate a veneer: composite and dental porcelain. A composite veneer may be directly placed (built-up in the mouth), or indirectly fabricated by a dental technician in a dental laboratory, and later bonded to the tooth, typically using a resin cement such as Panavia. In contrast, a porcelain veneer may only be indirectly fabricated.

If traditional orthodontics is not an option for you, then porcelain veneers can create a beautiful, straight smile in just a few visits, rather than having to undergo years of braces.

It’s important to Dr. Leizgold that your porcelain veneers match your characteristics and personality exactly. During your consultation, she’ll take your facial features into consideration. This includes lip line, nose shape, eye and hair color, and face and tooth symmetry.

Porcelain veneers are not false teeth; they are bonded to the front of your teeth, providing a bright, new, straight surface that can cover any chips, stains, breaks, or gaps you may have.

When creating your porcelain veneers, a shade of porcelain will be chosen to match your natural teeth. Dental porcelain is very natural in translucence and reflective properties compared to natural tooth enamel. Once bonded to your teeth, your smile will look flawless and completely natural.

Not every dentist is a cosmetic dentist. Cosmetic dentistry focuses on both the appearance and function of your teeth. Cosmetic dentists, like Dr. Leizgold, continuously educating herself by taking countless hours of continuing education, lectures, and hands-on courses in latest dental advances.
